- Joining is simple. Just show up. The club is completely free with only minimal special events having a cost to participate. If you are on Strava, we do love when people RSVP so we have a rough idea of numbers; but it's never necessary.
-
Absolutely! We have multiple pace groups, from walkers to those really speedy-folks, and everything in between. If you know your approximate pace and want a buddy for your first few runs, message us in advance and we can pair you up with someone of similar pace and goals.
-
Many of us do. In fact, many of our closest friendships started because someone showed up on their own. We do our best to introduce you to others to help you feel a part of the group.
-
The majority of our runs are timed-based rather than distance. We usually run (or walk) 20 minutes out, turn around and spend 20 minutes making our way back. Because we have such an array of speeds and abilities in our group, this allows everyone to travel at a speed and method comfortable to them, while ensuring we all start together and finish within minutes of each other.
*Note: We usually check in for long runners. If you want to stay out longer, for safety reasons we just ask that you let us know in advance.
-
Follow us on instagram for our weekly meeting locations and information about parking. All of our runs will take place in Cambridge, Ontario unless we are travelling for a special event.
-
Families are always welcome. We have babies in carriers, kiddos in strollers and others that bike or run alongside. A few important asks: Kids are to stay with you at all times, be extra cautious along road ways, and if biking, please ensure helps are being worn.
-
No. You do not need to lose weight, get faster, buy fancy gear or train on your own before joining us. You come first, and your confidence will grows from there. At River Rats we want to meet you where you are; not where you think you should be.
